You are going to squeeze that blackhead. Everyone does. The question is whether you do it with your fingernails in a bathroom mirror, or with tools designed for it — because the difference shows up as a scar six months later.

The technique — this part matters more than the tools

1. Sterilise. Alcohol wipe every tool before and after. Every single time
2. Soften first. A warm compress for a minute, or do this straight after a shower. Never go at cold, dry skin
3. Position the loop so the blackhead sits in the centre of it
4. Press down and slide — gentle, even pressure. You're rolling it out, not digging it out
5. Two attempts maximum. If it hasn't come out, leave it. It'll be easier in a few days
6. Calm the skin afterwards — hypochlorous mist, or a soothing cream

When not to use these

Never on an inflamed spot. If it's red, raised and painful, the contents are deeper than they look — pressing will push bacteria further into the skin and that is precisely how you get a scar instead of a spot.

Never on cystic acne, never on moles or anything you're unsure about, and never near your eyes. If you have widespread active acne rather than the occasional blackhead, these tools will make it worse. That's a conversation for a pharmacist or your GP.

Where they actually shine

Sebaceous filaments on the nose, the small clogged pores on the chin and forehead, and the closed comedones that never quite come to a head. That's the honest use case.

How often? Once a week at most. Congestion needs time to come back to the surface.

How do I sterilise them? Alcohol wipes, or boiling water for two minutes. They're stainless steel and won't mind either.

Do I need all eight? No. Most people use two or three and ignore the rest. The loop and the flat spoon do the majority of the work.
