The One-Product Routine Reset – CICA Probiotic Calming Cream

If your skin has been red, tight, or reacting to everything lately, this is the reset. Centella asiatica — cica — is the ingredient Korean pharmacies hand out for irritated skin, and pairing it with probiotics means you're calming the surface while supporting your skin barrier at the same time.

It's thick enough to be your only moisturiser, which is rather the point. Most people dealing with sensitivity are using too many products, not too few.

Who it's for

• Skin that's red, blotchy, or reactive without an obvious cause
• Over-exfoliated skin — too much acid or retinol, too fast
• Anyone whose routine has grown to seven steps and stopped working
• Dry to normal skin types. If you're very oily, use it at night only

How to use it

1. Cleanse and pat your skin until it's just barely damp
2. Warm a pea-sized amount between your fingers
3. Press it in — don't rub — across your face and neck
4. Morning and night. Sunscreen goes on top in the morning

Questions we get asked

Will this break me out? It contains mineral oil, which is non-comedogenic but sits heavily on some people. If you're acne-prone, patch test along your jaw for two nights first.

Can I use it with retinol or acids? Yes — that's one of the better reasons to own it. Apply it after your active has absorbed.

Is it fragranced? No added fragrance.

How long will one jar last? Around eight to ten weeks with twice-daily use on the face and neck.

Is it heavy under makeup? A little. If you wear foundation daily, use a thinner layer in the morning and go generous at night.

A note on expectations

Barrier repair is slow. Redness usually settles within one to two weeks; the improvement in how resilient your skin feels takes about a month of consistent use. If your skin is reacting to something specific, this will soothe the symptom but won't remove the cause — worth working out what that is alongside.
