Ten masks, fifteen minutes each. The most reliable way we know of making a tired face look like it slept.

Let's be clear about what a sheet mask is: a hydration delivery system. It floods your skin with water and holds it there under an occlusive layer, and green tea adds an antioxidant that's genuinely calming on hot, reactive skin. The effect is real and it's visible the same evening. It is also temporary. That's fine — that's what they're for.

When they earn their place

  • The night before something where you want to look well
  • After a flight, when your face has gone flat and grey
  • When your skin is hot and blotchy from sun, wind or stress
  • A Sunday evening, as a fifteen-minute reason to sit still

How to use them properly

  1. Cleanse and pat dry
  2. Unfold the mask and smooth it on from the centre outwards, pressing out air pockets around the nose and mouth
  3. Fifteen minutes. Twenty at the absolute most
  4. Remove and press the remaining essence into your skin. Don't rinse
  5. Moisturiser on top to seal it in

The mistake almost everyone makes

Leaving it on until it dries out. Once the sheet starts drying it begins pulling moisture back out of your skin — so a forty-minute mask leaves you worse off than a fifteen-minute one. Set a timer.

Try it cold

Twenty minutes in the fridge before use and the de-puffing effect roughly doubles. It's the single best trick with sheet masks and it costs nothing.

Questions we get asked

How often? Two or three times a week is plenty. Daily isn't harmful, just unnecessary.

Do I rinse afterwards? No. Press the leftover essence in — that's the active part.

Can I use one twice? No. Once used it's a bacteria risk. They're single use.

Will they break me out? Green tea is one of the lower-risk options, but if you're acne-prone try one on a night when it doesn't matter before committing to the routine.

Can I use the leftover essence on my neck? Please do — and your hands. There's usually more in the packet than the sheet holds.

Is one mask enough to see a difference? For puffiness and dullness, yes, that evening. For anything lasting, you're looking at consistent use alongside the rest of your routine.
