Facial cupping is the opposite of every other tool on this page. Instead of pressing down, it lifts up — gentle suction that draws blood to the surface and leaves skin looking brighter and less flat.
Two minutes a side, over facial oil, a few times a week. The set includes smaller cups for the delicate skin around the eyes.
How to use it — and the one rule that matters
Never hold a cup still. Suction held in one place is exactly how you get the round bruises people associate with body cupping. On the face, the cup must keep moving the entire time.
- Apply a generous layer of facial oil — more than feels necessary. Without it the cup won't glide and will stick
- Squeeze the cup, place it on the skin, release gently to create light suction
- Glide immediately — outwards and upwards, away from the centre of your face
- Release the suction before lifting the cup off
- Two minutes a side. Two or three times a week
Use the small cups around the eye socket and on the smile lines, and the larger ones on the cheeks, jaw and neck.
Please don't use it if
You have rosacea, visible broken capillaries, active acne in the area, eczema on your face, or you're on blood thinners. You've had injectables in the last two weeks. Or your skin is currently sunburnt or irritated. Cupping brings blood to the surface, which is exactly wrong for all of the above.
If in doubt, try one gentle pass on your jaw and wait a day.
What to expect
Slight pinkness for ten or twenty minutes afterwards is normal and is the point. Anything that lasts longer, or any mark with a defined edge, means too much suction or not enough movement.
Questions we get asked
Will it leave marks like body cupping? Not if you keep it moving. That's the whole technique.
Can I use it without oil? No. This is the most common mistake and the most uncomfortable.
How do I clean them? Warm soapy water after every use, air dry. Silicone holds oil.
Cupping or gua sha? Gua sha compresses and sculpts, cupping lifts and brings circulation. Cupping is better for dull, flat-looking skin.
