If your skin looks generally fine but you've got patches left over from old spots, sun from summers past, or an unevenness you notice in photographs — that's what vitamin C is for. Not brightening in the bleaching sense. Evening out.
The catch with most vitamin C serums is that they strip. This one is paired with hyaluronic acid, so it hydrates while it works, which is the difference between a serum you finish and one that sits in a drawer.
What to expect, and when
- Week one to two: skin looks slightly brighter and more awake. Mostly the hydration
- Week four to six: post-blemish marks begin to fade
- Week eight to twelve: the real change in overall tone and sun-related patches
Anything promising faster is overselling. Pigment takes months to shift.
How to use it
- Mornings. Vitamin C works alongside your sunscreen rather than against it
- Three to four drops on clean, slightly damp skin
- Press in and wait thirty seconds
- Moisturiser, then sunscreen — every single day
That last step isn't optional. Using vitamin C on pigmentation without daily SPF is emptying a bath with the tap running.
How to tell when it's gone off
Vitamin C oxidises. Fresh, it's clear to pale straw. As it ages it turns yellow, then orange, then brown. Pale yellow is fine and still works. Dark orange or brown means it's finished — bin it, because oxidised vitamin C can irritate skin rather than help it.
Keep the bottle out of sunlight, cap it tightly, and use it within about three months of opening.
Questions we get asked
It tingles slightly. Is that bad? A mild tingle for a minute is normal. Stinging, burning or persistent redness is not — stop and go every other day instead.
Can I use it with retinol? Not in the same routine. Vitamin C in the morning, retinol at night.
With exfoliating acids? Not at the same time. Alternate days.
Can I use it at night instead? You can, but you lose the daytime antioxidant benefit. Mornings are better.
Will it help active acne? Not really. It helps the marks left behind afterwards, which is often what actually bothers people.
